Nautoscopio

Nautoscopio is a shelter anchored on the rocks. During the day it faces the horizon, at night it rotates on itself to frame the erupting volcano. With the flat sea it lowers almost to the surface of the water, during the storm it rises up to fifteen meters high. The Nautoscopio is installed on the sea, in front of the entrance to the city of Palermo.

Palermo - 38°07'13''N 13°22'17''E

Palermo is the place where the Nautoscopio has been undergoing testing for 10 years.
The mechanism of the Nautoscopio provides for the lifting of the cockpit up to 15 m from the ground and a rotation of 360 °.
The structure has withstood the atmospheric phenomena of the sea, wind and lightning and is almost ready to be put into operation.
It will soon be available to travelers, artists, professors for their lectio magistralis and to spread the culture of the landscape, of Sicilian historical traditions.

Unexpected Homes

Nautoscopio is the first of a series of unconventional architectures, Artist's Houses or Unexpected Homes.
